Whilst completing my degree I picked up several pointers that helped me go about designing products. I found that nearer the end of designing my 3rd and 4th year projects a hands on approach worked for me. This meant prototyping products making several models to help me visualize the final product. Within the last project I did with the ‘presense wallet’ I made tonnes of prototypes and really enjoyed doing that project towards the end.

Making sketchbooks was always drilled into us but most of time I would end up not having one as it would be exploded over my desk or lost in a workshop. Personally I dont like them much, better with everything floating on the wall shouting down on you.
The type of solutions that I like are generally designed simple but work effectively. Although I do like mod cons and technology enhanced gadgets I have always been attacted to solutions which are constantly reliable and effective. Recently become interested in sensory design and increasing this within product design. Within my Honours project I did a lot of research into haptic design and did many ‘hands on’ experiments with various grades of texture.
I enjoy studying people and how they interact with objects and how they change the function of objects to be used differently. I also look into habits people have and then see if I can use them in anyway to find a solution.
I am particularly keen on having a good finish on products. I have experimented with many sprays and finishing techniques throughout my years studying. Using CAD programs has allowed me to get a good base finish on objects that I have CNC’d out meaning the final product is guaranteed a professional touch.

Really like this design dunc, great idea I’m always finding myself patting my back pocket in that moment of fear. The wallet has a really nice look to them aswell, if you got any spare samples i would happily purchase one.
